Introducing the hottest selling baby toy on Amazon.com right now, Sophie the rubber giraffe. Not to be mistaken for a dog toy, this giraffe is soft to the baby touch, light and easy to hold and when you squeeze it, it squeaks, er, I mean, makes a "happy sound"!
Rachel was in Europe and picked one up for little Mia's first birthday. Mia liked it all right. I guess for a teething baby, it might come in handy more.
Anyway, for all you mom's out there, this is probably old news. But just in case you're looking for a good baby gift, look to the rubber giraffe. It doesn't look like much, but apparently, millions of babies agree, it's a winner.

MAN. It is a good thing I'm not a mom, because I am so out of the loop that I never would have known about this (which might end up being the Hottest Baby Toy of the DECADE). And my child would have hated me forever, or have had stunted growth or whatever. No teeth maybe.
I was kinda hoping the toy was marked for slightly older children, because it reminded me of the Gumby fad. Now, THAT toy was HOT.
Kris filled me in on this.. apparently it's a very classic toy in France. Not new at all.. very old.. but I suppose what's old is new..yeah? Everyday Miriam you get more and more ready to have kids.
my nephew already has one. he loves it. every kid should have one.
Oh yes. I do know that these have been around for quite a while. Selling millions in Europe. And never seems to die in popularity. It just looks so boring to me. I can't say I would ever want one. Even as a baby. Booooring.
haha. I actually JUST found out about this giraffe a few months ago. There was a friend at church that had one and I thought it was just some old toy. Little did I know that it was like 15 bucks. Crazy! It's cute though.
i love giraffes. they are my favourite. i think they always were, but they really "reached" the top of my list after seeing "the lion king" on stage ... but i saw this at the store last week and thought, "there are WAY cuter giraffe toys out there - what the!?!?" ... still not ready to be a parent, i guess ...
hey moh, I'm super glad you posted this because, JUST THIS LAST SUNDAY, I saw a baby gnawing on the head of one of these giraffes, about 10 pews up. And I was like, hey, that's the hottest baby toy around! and I felt so super-cool and in the Mommy Loop to be able to casually mention something about it to the baby's owner/mother. I think it gave me some Street Church-Cred.
And then I was giggling at the baby because she has so much hair, she looks like one of the babies on that SNL spoof commercial for baby wigs. And then I lost my Cred.
ha! short-lived, but lived. Don't forget that.
